Extension privacy

What we store when you connect the extension#

• Your LeitnerPlus account: your e-mail address and sign-in details, handled by Supabase Auth. Without a connected account the extension stores nothing on our servers.
• The cards you save: the word or sentence, its meaning, and the video context it came from (the subtitle line and its translation, the video's title, link and ID, the time in the video, and whether it was YouTube or Netflix).
• Word states: the words you mark as known and the review state of your cards, used to colour subtitles and to show the number of cards due.
• Connected extensions: one entry per signed-in extension with a device label (such as "Chrome on macOS"), the extension version, when it was connected and when it was last used. You can see and disconnect them in Settings.

What stays in your browser#

• Your extension settings, a copy of your cards for offline use and your sign-in tokens are kept in the extension's own browser storage. Removing the extension deletes them.
• Pronunciation uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis; the word is not sent to us.

Translation and other services#

• Subtitle and word translations are requested from Google Translate directly by your browser. Those requests go from your browser to Google, not through LeitnerPlus, and Google's privacy policy applies to them.
• The extension's icons and fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google; no account data is sent with those requests.
• Japanese reading aids and Anki export send the subtitle text to LeitnerPlus. It is processed to build the answer and is not stored.
• To limit abuse we count requests per account and per network. Network addresses are stored only as a keyed hash and never in readable form; the counters are deleted after a few days.

No analytics or tracking#

• The extension contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and we do not record which videos you watch.
• We do not sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising.
• The optional survey shown after you remove the extension is anonymous: it sends the reason you choose, your comment (e-mail addresses and links are removed) and the extension version.

Deleting your data#

• Delete single cards in the extension's word list or on the LeitnerPlus website.
• Disconnect an extension in Settings → Connected extensions; this signs it out at once.
• To delete your account, e-mail support@leitnerplus.com. Deleting the account deletes your cards, video contexts, word states and connected extensions with it.
